Christmas Amidst Pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic is a public health emergency and an economic crisis, unprecedented in the disruption of daily life. Stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, children can't go outside to play because they are afraid to get infected by the virus.  If you allow your children to play outside with friends, consider limiting it to just a few other kids and encouraging physical distancing. Make sure your children wash their hands before they come back inside. Most children and youth are no longer attending school, with classroom lessons replaced by home-schooling and online learning activities.

Christmas is important to many Christians because it reminds them that: Jesus, the Son of God, came to Earth for all people, symbolised through the visits of the wise men and the shepherds. Mary and Joseph both had a strong faith in God, despite the difficulties they faced. People are finding all sorts of ways to connect, celebrate and reflect. We should celebrate the holidays only with the people we live with. We are preoccupied with guidelines on how to celebrate Christmas this year– with only members of the family who are living in the same household. We are being discouraged from visiting one another for our mutual protection and safety. Amid the strict travel and social restrictions still in place, Filipinos still brainstormed ideas related to celebrating Christmas. Filipinos still managed to have holiday cheer despite the scourge of the coronavirus pandemic.

Coronavirus pandemic can't stop people from celebrating Christmas. They find new ways to share the love to their family without getting infected by the virus. The Filipino's strong sense of family and preserving ties make Christmas the perfect time to share love and blessings with each other. During Christmas, this love translates to the tradition of carolling. Children go from house to house singing carols to spread the spirit of Christmas, but sadly they can't do that anymore because of the spreading virus.
