  Philippine Independence Day happens on June 12 every year. It's a holiday where Filipinos celebrate Independence from Spain, as well as America. The public holiday celebrates Philippine history, freedom and culture. They hang up the flag in most public places and take a day off. Seventy five years ago, the Philippines was recognized as an independent, sovereign country by the United States, which withdrew its authority over the archipelago as colonizer.   Mothers play a critical role in the family, which is a powerful force for social cohesion and integration. The mother-child relationship is vital for the healthy development of children. And mothers are not only caregivers; they are also breadwinners for their families. Truly, our mothers worked hard and made sacrifices, so our lives would be better. There are not a lot of people willing to do that, so let her know you appreciate it. Mothers are the emotional backbones of the family. They provide the holding place for everyone’s feelings and do their best to keep us from being hurt. That's how important mothers are.  I'm very thankful for having a mother who's very caring and loving, she always think what the best for us. She is an OFW.
